The Ministry of Economy will collect information on household incomes

The Act on the Provision of Personal Data on Household Incomes for the Purpose of Targeted Energy Assistance was approved by the National Council of the Slovak Republic on April 3, 2025. However, citizens may refuse the processing of their data.

The National Council of the Slovak Republic adopted the Act on the Provision of Data for the Purpose of Targeted Energy Assistance (Act No. 71/2025 Coll.). According to this act, public authorities managing population registers will be required to provide personal data to the Ministry of Economy. This includes, for example, data from the real estate cadastre, apartment administrators, the financial administration, the social insurance agency, energy suppliers, and similar sources. Data under this act is provided for the purpose of collecting, processing, and storing information about persons forming a common household and about their incomes.

If a citizen does not wish the Ministry of Economy to process their data, they had to notify their disagreement via a form, which must have been delivered to the ministry no later than April 30, 2025. The notification must have included the person's first name, surname, address, date of birth, and personal identification number.
